Corrosion investigations of Al-Si casting alloys in 0.6 M NaCl solution

This paper presents results of the corrosion investigations specimens made from finished parts for automotive industry, produced by high-pressure die casting and gravity process six Al-Si alloys (40000 series). Open circuit potential potentiodynamic polarization measurements have been performed using a potentiostat with three-electrode set-up in 0.6 M NaCl naturally aerated solution. Microstructural characterization before after electrochemical has carried out optical microscope to establish connection between microstructure parameters investigated analyze record surface changes each sample due corrosion. All show good resistance, which manifests low values rates, calculated current densities obtained measurements. Differences behavior appear distinctions their chemical composition microstructure. The type does not affect alloys.
